American Family Housing Second Step: TRANSITIONAL HOUSING
Number of Units: 66
Transitional Housing is designed to bridge the gap between crises shelter and permanent housing. This housing area includes our Haven Project for chronically homeless clients. It is critical that successful transitional housing programs provide a wide range of flexible and optional supportive services that reflect the differences and individual needs of the homeless and that allows clients to work with a one-on-one caseworker to choose the course of action that is best for them. Transitional housing programs offer counseling, support groups, safety planning, and advocacy services as well as various forms of practical services that may include licensed childcare, employment services and training, transportation vouchers, and credit counseling. Clients must be employed and remain drug and alcohol free. Length of stay at this step is 24 months.
