Empowering Lives for Success through Housing & Services
For every homeless person or family you see on the street there are many more you don’t see. Some are families with young children living in poverty, sleeping in parks, motels or cars. AFH's Shelter For The Homeless Program began with one man delivering food, blankets and clothing to those in need. In 23 years, the organization has grown from a one-house shelter to more than 250 emergency, transitional, and permanent housing facilities. On any given night over 1,000 people who would otherwise be homeless, have a safe place to sleep and food to eat.
Meeting the needs of the homeless includes many staff and community volunteers who work together to reaffirm self-worth, healing and positive reinforcement for individuals who have no one and nowhere else to turn. The Shelter For The Homeless Program works with Cities, State and Federal governments as well as local service groups such as Lions, Soroptimist, Kiwanis, Project SHUE, the Boys and Girls Club, Family Resource Center and others to help families return to a normal life.
Our commitment is to offer more than shelter for one night. AFH's Shelter For The Homeless Program offers compassion, caring, support, counseling and education for homeless and low-income families who want to work to improve their lives and become self-supporting members of society. |
